I have always enjoyed reading nursery rhymes and children’s stories in Spanish but was never able to listen to them, that is until Cody’s Cuentos. I can learn Spanish the same way that children learn a language…by listening and hearing the rhythm of a language and I found that this site really does just that. The stories are accurately read with great pronunciation. As I listen to the stories I am thankful that this podcast has been created and I look forward with great anticipation to future broadcasts. Thank you.

Wow! What can I say? I’m digging Cody’s Cuentos! This podcast is incredible and the enhanced transcripts with vocabulary definitions and extra exercises are a great addition.

This is an awesome tool to incorporate into a library story-time program. It is one thing to find an audio of a traditional classic, but it is another to find a recording that is professionally designed with voice impressions that make the story entertaining. This podcast is a great ease for a puppet show presentation in Spanish. Now I can manipulate the puppet characters and not worry about reading the story simultaniously.
Mil Gracias!

Absolutely Fabulous!
This is an effective tool for those of us that are kids at heart and have heard these stories before. It allows us to follow along with what we know of the stories. I find that this, for me is a more effective way of learning. If you think about it, children tend to learn language through repetition and looking at pictures to infer what the story is trying to say. They don’t try to learn the meaning of every word, but eventually, they understand the concepts and words related to those concepts. For example, in Caperucita Roja, we learn the connection between body parts and more abstract concepts such as the connection between eyes and seeing, ears and hearing, etc. I especially can appreciate listening to the stories from native speakers from different countries. As an adult, if I travel to Panama or Span, I don’t want to be thrown off by the accents.
I’d also like to echo the sentiment that we appreciate the time and effort that creating such a podcast takes. You take the time to produce a tool of learning that truly is of excellent quality. We can clearly see that this is a labor of love.
Muchisimas Gracias, Eleena y Cody!

I appreciate greatly your investment into the lives of strangers! I have been learning Spanish on my own, and listening to stories makes it so interesting and fun!

Thank you so much for the stories. I have been learning Spanish while commuting using audio materials, but I am still a beginner. Your stories are a great break from the lessons I do. I listen to them every day and each time I understand a little more. I still rely on the text to understand them though, so it’s always appreciated.

Hi Cody!
Just a quick note to say “gracias” for the fantastic podcast! I’m a Spanish language teacher (7th-8th grade) and I have to tell you that your stories are a lifesaver for this overworked teacher! Since many of the stories are already known by my students in English, they get a kick out of hearing them in Spanish and trying to figure out what is being said. I also have them read along with the transcript. I like that you put together a short list of questions and exercises for the stories. That’s a big help to me because it reduces the amount of lesson planning I have to do whenever we do this listening activity. Keep the stories coming!
