What’s a podcast?

A podcast is an audio file that can be listened to or downloaded from the Internet.

Who are these stories for?

Cody’s Cuentos is a podcast of classic children’s stories in Spanish. They can be enjoyed by people of all ages but may be particularly of interest to Spanish-speaking families, Spanish language teachers and children and adults studying Spainsh. A full transcript of each story is available so that you can read and follow along while listening.

What are the differences between the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels?

All stories require some knowledge and understanding of Spanish in order to be enjoyed.
Here is a general description of the levels:

• Beginner: Extremely short stories, 2 pages or less. Simple words and sentence structure. If you only know the Spanish present tense, this is the level for you.

• Intermediate: Stories may vary in length but will present a wider vocabulary than the beginner level. If you know the Spanish present, past and future tenses, this is the level for you.

• Advanced: Stories will vary in length but vocabulary and/or sentence structure will be more developed. Stories are written at the level of a native Spanish speaker.

What is an “enhanced transcript”?

An enhanced transcript provides you the complete story plus a list of specific words, including their definitions. There’s also a short worksheet with questions and some written exercises to check your listening and reading comprehension of the story. A small fee is charged for these transcripts.

Can I see a sample of an “enhanced transcript”?

Are there any free transcripts?

Yes, there are. But the free transcripts contain only the text of the story. No definitions of words are provided and there is no accompanying worksheet.
