George Washington y el cerezo

George Washington, the first president of the United States, was a boy once. Here’s the (fictional?) story of George Washington and the cherry tree.

Cuando George Washington era un niño, vivía en una granja en Virginia. Su padre le enseño a cabalgar y solía llevarlo de paseo por la granja para que aprendiera a cuidar de los campos, de los caballos y del ganado cuando fuera mayor.

El padre de George, el señor Washington, había plantado un huerto de árboles frutales. Allí había limoneros, melocotoneros, perales, ciruelos y cerezos. Un día recibió un cerezo particularmente hermoso que le habían mandado desde el otro lado del océano. Lo plantó en un extremo del huerto y advirtió a todo el mundo en la granja que tuviesen mucho cuidado para que nadie lo rompiera o dañara.
